Galaxy Quest

Sadly - this post has been a little tardy. Note to self - get better about updating blog. A few weeks ago, we were invited to a Galaxy game. Thanks Katie and Tanner! The most important part of this is that I actually saw David Beckham! With my own two eyes and the zoom lens on my camera. And then as I was talking Katie's poor ear off we saw Kobe Bryant too! I do like soccer but sadly I am one of those fans that doesn't know any team names, or players or anything. I pretty much watch the World Cup with a lot of enthusiasm (once every 4 years), am blindly loyal to F.C. Porto and know David Beckham is legendary like Pele. Despite my pathetic knowledge, we had fun and were glad we got to spend time with Katie, Tanner, Reese and baby Beck.

On Thursday, I went to Ikea with my friend Jenny. Here was how our conversation went:

Jenny: Hey I read your blog, that was pretty funny.

Nikki: Yeah, sorry about that. I sorta chucked you and Lexi under the bus.

Jenny: No worries.

Nikki: I can't even criticize - I know Kelly Ripa and I would laugh a lot together. And I don't think I am cool enough to keep up with him, but I would love to hang out with Owen Wilson for a day.

Jenny: I don't know about Owen Wilson, but I would love to hang out with Vince Vaughn.

Nikki: You're right. Vince Vaughn would be way funnier. I know I couldn't keep up.

* I am not sure why the last few days have had so many conversations about celebrities, but it has been highly entertaining.

An Extra Wedding Present

My former rommate - Jen abandoned me and Sara so she could move to New York City to live a fabulous life. (And give us a place to stay when we come out to visit). However, Jen comes out to visit often and I was so happy that she was able to come out for our wedding.

Just recently she came out for another visit and brought me some great wedding gifts but some of my favorites were a bunch of pictures she snapped at the wedding. Here are some of my favorites.

Happy Belated Easter

So this is a few weeks late but I believe it is still post-worthy. We had our first Easter together. Complete with a puffed pancake and a super clean house and an Easter basket filled with our favorite goodies. There might have even been an Easter dress for me to wear somewhere in there.

So the basket is not really an Easter basket but I loved it and it was on sale at Marshalls for $10. It looks just perfect for a picnic.

Nikki: I don't think Simon likes to be in the spotlight. I think that Simon is actually a super nice person in real life.

Sara: I know - I bet he is. He seems like it. I don't think he likes the spotlight either.

Jenny: I met him last season, he was so nice. His girlfriend is so so nice. And I want to say that if I ever met Ryan Seacrest - I just know I would be one of his best friends.

Lexi: I know - I think I would be best friends with Ryan Seacrest too!!! And Justin Timberlake, I just know that we would be friends. His favorite ice cream is mint n chip - my favorite ice cream is mint n chip too!

Okay - besides the fact that this was a very fun conversation, I am glad the girls were over because Darren is gone again on a business trip.

Disney Date

Seriously Disneyland is one of the best date nights if you happen to live in Southern California and have a season pass. Even when I was a single gal - it is a great, easy night that you can do for free.

So we went last night (March 28th) and committed a HUGE tactical mistake. It was Spring Break and there could have been a BAZILLION people there. All attractions that included a fun ride of any sort was now out of the question, so we (me, Darren, Lexi, Casey) did the more neglected attractions of Disneyland. Maybe the ones no one really wants to do but just happens to have no lines and who likes being in a line?

So this off-the-beaten-track Disneyland was a fun blast from the past. We started with the train ride that circles around Disneyland, watched Honey I Shrunk The Audience (which I think was way more fun when I was about 15) and finished up with:

That's right - it is The Enchanted Tiki Room - you know where all of the birds and flowers talk? This was a hidden treat because my Mom always insisted on going to this attraction. It was strangely enough one of her favorites. She always thought the attractions were "so neat." That was her favorite terms when she liked something. However, it was fun to be in there and have Darren point out that she probably liked it because she finally got a chance to sit down and relax. Which was probably true!!!! Coming to Disneyland with a few kids would be tricky but 11 or so would be probably not very enjoyable for any poor mother. :)

So here's to the forgotten parts of Disneyland. Next time I am going to try and visit something else that is partially forgotten :)
